Portfolio company CrabCAD

Business idea: This project aims to provide an online environment for engineers, designers and manufacturers. Engineers spend approximately one-third of their working time designing products and parts which other people have already created, i.e. the designs already exist. Making such designs available to others will give engineers the chance to spend more time designing unique products and parts. The Internet environment will comprise three parts:

a virtual library of 3D drawings;
an ordering environment for 3D drawings; and
a supply environment in which orders can be submitted on the basis of 3D drawings for the production of parts.

GrabCAD is being developed Hardi Meybaum and Indrek Narusk who graduated from Tallinn Technical University in product development. Meybaum has worked as an engineer and has managed a number of software development units. Narusk has worked as an engineer in a variety of machine construction companies for more than seven years. The idea of launching an online environment came to the founders of the company in the course of their everyday work.

The network version currently has an ordering environment for 3D drawings, while development of the virtual library is ongoing. The company's business model was analysed in SeedBooster in order to launch it on the international market.
