Futures Forum 2

Arengufondi arengufoorum 2009 päis

The Development Fund´s Futures Forum 2: "World - Options -  Decisions" will be held on 27 April at 12.00- 17.30 at the Swissôtel Tallinn conference centre (Tornimäe 3).

A year ago, at the first Futures Forum, we introduced a thorough research that pointed out the structural weaknesses of Estonian economy. At the end of the same year, the global financial crisis erupted together with an economic slowdown.

We face an enormous challenge - how to turn the Estonian economy from the path of" Natural Selection" towards the scenario of "North Star" in the condition of the economic crisis.

The way to finding a solution consists of 3 steps:

1. World: we have to understand what is going on in the world´s economy and what else can be expected.
2. Options: resulting from the previous, we have to think what kind of options Estonia has at all
3. Decisions: from amongst the options, we have to find consensus in difficult decisions made for the sake of the future. We have to get out of the crisis among the winners!

We have done preliminary work among researchers and experts. Now we would like to discuss this with the public to find answers together.
